Guidance for University Release Time - Commencement 2023
To allow for a seamless transition from regular operations to the celebratory activities of Commencement 2023, we ask that supervisors arrange for as many staff, faculty, student workers and graduate assistants/associates as possible to work from home that day.
To help facilitate this request, the University is granting four hours of University release time (paid leave) for all employees after noon on Friday, May 12. This can be used by anyone who normally would be scheduled to work on Friday afternoon, whether working from a University location or from home. Please note the following items.
WORK FROM HOME*
Staff, faculty, student workers and graduate assistants/associates are strongly encouraged to work from home on Friday, May 12, if possible.
If working from home, employees may end work at noon and use University release time for the rest of the workday.
If working from home is not possible, employees may leave work at noon and use University release time for the rest of the workday.
4 HOURS UNIVERSITY RELEASE
4 hours of paid University release will be allowed after noon on May 12 for all staff, faculty and student workers. Time reporting codes:
RLE – Exempt (Salary)
RLP – Nonexempt (Hourly)
RLS – Student Workers
RLG – Graduate Assistants/Associates
Codes will be active in UAccess Employee May 1 - May 28.
*Staff and faculty critical to University operations will be expected to remain on campus for the entire workday. These employees will still receive University release time to be used by May 28.
Supervisors
Please arrange for as many staff, faculty, student workers and graduate assistants/associates as possible to work from home Friday, May 12, while ensuring that the work of the University proceeds. When approving time sheets in UAccess Employee/Manager Self-Service, please verify the time reporting codes are accurate before the pay period closes.
